Red/flushed skin that is reactive to temperature changes and can flare up when consuming triggering food or drinks
Flaky skin (commonly mistaken for dry skin), this is due to an over stimulation of skin cycles resulting in dead skin being visible on the surface of the face

It can be, however rosacea is a complex disease with both genetic and environmental influences. It does not have a straightforward pattern of inheritance. Studies suggest that people with rosacea are four times more likely to have a family history of the disorder than people without the condition.
Trigger foods/drinks – Most commonly spicy food, alcohol, sugar and high saturated fat diets
Exercise – Many people with rosacea will find their skin becomes extremely red during exercise
Temperature changes – Hot and cold weather can cause vasoconstriction & vasodilation which can cause rosacea to get worse
Using the wrong products – Using thick, oily, perfumed products can cause the skin to flare up
Stress & menstruation – Hormone changes and stress can also cause flare ups

Sadly there is nothing you can do to prevent rosacea as there is no known cause for it, however having a high active ingredient cosmeceutical skincare routine, refraining from excess drinking and smoking and using an SPF 50 daily are all good practices in looking after your skin health.
GP’s will usually recommend steroid cream and antibiotics, while these may yield short term results they will not cure rosacea and cannot be used long term.
