Dermaplaning is a cosmetic treatment that involves using a small, sterile blade to gently scrape off the top layer of dead skin cells and fine hair from the face. This process helps to exfoliate the skin and remove any buildup of oil, dirt, or debris, resulting in a smoother and brighter complexion.
Dermaplaning is a method used to remove unwanted peach fuzz hair and dead skin cells from the face.
Dermaplaning is typically performed in a clinical setting by a trained aesthetician or dermatologist. The procedure begins with cleansing the face and then using a sterile blade held at a 45-degree angle to gently scrape the skin in upward strokes. The process is painless and can take up to 30 minutes to complete.
Benefits of dermaplaning include smoother skin texture, reduction of fine lines and wrinkles, improved skin tone and texture, and a brighter complexion. It can also help improve the penetration and efficacy of skincare products applied after the treatment.

Dermaplaning is not suitable for men and isn’t a permanent hair removal method.
Yes, dermaplaning is not a permanent hair removal option, however many clients find that their hair grows back slower after multiple sessions.
No, this is a myth! The facial hair is removed without any trauma to the hair follicle, so there is no signal to the hair to grow back thicker. As the hair is removed at the hairline, when it starts to grow back through it can initially feel rougher as it’s been blunted, the hair would typically feel softer because it grows naturally to a point. After a few days of regrowth this settles and feels smooth again.
In layman’s terms, yes it is. However in a professional setting we are using surgical blades which are designed to not only remove the hair with no trauma to the follicle, but will also remove the surface dead skin layer. Traditional razors are designed to only remove the hair and not exfoliate the skin and can cause more skin friction and trauma, potentially resulting in hair growing back thicker.
Yes, dermaplaning is safe to use on the upper lip area.
Skincare is extremely unique to each individual, we would always recommend a skin analysis and consultation with one of our expert Aestheticians to see what’s going on underneath your skin, find out about your skin type, skin goals, budget and lifestyle, at which point we can make recommendations that will treat your personal skin needs. These are included for free with any treatment for a new client or can be booked as a stand alone consultation.
We would not recommend dermaplaning to anyone under 18.
Dermaplaning removes only the very top layer of the skin, the stratum corneum and vellus hair, also known as peach fuzz.
After the first treatment some clients may experience some mild purging from the skin. For clients who suffer with oily/acneic skin we would not recommend dermaplaning if you have a lot of active acne as this can spread the bacteria. If your skin is prone to breakouts after treatments we would always recommend combining dermaplaning with HydraFacial to deliver key oil controlling ingredients into the skin.
Smooth and glowing, some mild redness is normal after the treatment.

A common question we get is ‘Can I wear makeup after dermaplaning?’.
We would recommend avoiding makeup for 24 hours following a dermaplaning treatment as well. Stronger skin care such as acids, retinoids and exfoliators are recommended to be avoided for 4 days following the treatment.
Yes, dermaplaning is safe to perform on black and brown skins, there are no risks associated with this treatment.
