Why come to us for Electrolysis?

Zoe has been performing Electrolysis for over 7 years and she is passionate about being able to offer it to her clients as it is a dying art with less and less clinics offering it. With her years of experience comes a steady hand and impeccable technique.

We know how hard it can be for clients to come to a stranger and admit to having facial hair as it can be embarrassing. However, having treated hundreds of clients with facial hair Zoe knows that this problem is more common than most people would think. We have great empathy for our clients and feel honoured to be part of the solution for these women.

We also have a lot of experience treating transgender women who are in the process of transitioning. Zoe loves being a part of their journey to becoming who they've always wanted to be.

Electrolysis FAQ

Electrolysis is a method of removing individual hairs from the face. The electrolysis device destroys the hair follicle with heat. After a probe is inserted into the hair, it is removed with tweezers.

Electrolysis safely and permanently removes all types of hair from all skin tones. It works by permanently destroying the growth cells of the hair follicle, initially reducing the strength and eventually preventing treated hairs from ever growing back.

It is unfortunately impossible to give an exact number as it will depend on how big the area is, the strength of the hair, the colour of the hair, hair cycles & the reason for the growth.

A consultation and patch test is required to give guidance on how often you need to be seen and what to expect.

The most common side effects after an electrolysis session are tenderness, redness and some swelling. These side effects are all normal and temporary.

The treatment is uncomfortable but bearable. Most clients describe the sensation as being like a hot sting, however each hair only requires a couple of seconds of treatment.

A patch test is performed at the consultation to give you an idea of the expected discomfort.

Most clients will need to have treatments once every 2 weeks to begin with, however if it is a big treatment area it is advised to have weekly treatments.

After a few sessions as hair growth reduces, treatments are then spread out to every 3 or 4 weeks.

Laser hair removal is the best solution for large areas, however it only works on dark hair so if you have red or white hair it is not suitable.

As Electrolysis is performed hair by hair it is mostly done on facial hair, such as the chin and lip. It is the only technology to currently claim permanent hair removal, some clients with dark hair choose to have a course of laser treatment to reduce the hair and then finish off what's left with Electrolysis.
