What are warts?

Warts are characterised as raised bumps on the skin caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV). They appear most commonly on the hands and feet and are not dangerous. They are potentially embarrassing, contagious and can also be painful.

What can you do to prevent the spread of warts?

  • Cover them with a bandage
  • Wash your hands regularly
  • Don’t pick at the warts
  • Keep the affected area dry

What can you do to remove warts?

  • Freezing treatment – At home freezing treatments can be very effective to remove warts
  • Cauterisation – We use ACP (an advanced form of electrolysis) that involves using a probe with a current emitted to the end of it, by tapping this against the wart it cauterises it, causing it to destroy the blood supply
